All excursions are done in an open canoe equipped with an outboard Motor, experience driver, and life vests.
Program included in package:
1st Day
08.00 - Depart the pier of the Tropical Hotel for Ariau Amazon Towers by regional boat. Duration of the trip: 02 hours and 40 minutes.
10.40 – Arrival at the hotel followed by a reception: Amazonian fruit juice will be served. Check in. A short tour around the hotel complex.
12.00 - Meeting at the reception to be introduced to the rainforest guide who will explain about the program.
Lunch.
15.00 - Depart for a visit to a native family and also piranha fishing. At the native family’s place, the guide will explain how the word native came about, their system of agriculture and the crops that they plant. The guide will also explain about Manioc (cassava) and how the roots are reaped and processed to make manioc flour, tapioca and other products. Guests will be served Brazilian nuts and tapioca bread. Afterwards the guests will be taken to an area where you can fish piranhas using bamboo poles, fish lines, and small fish hooks.
19.00 – Dinner.
20.00 – Caiman watching. Following a guide and using a large bright torchlight, you will be taken to a place where you might be able to see some Caimans. The guide will give a brief about the caiman explaining their physical characteristics & gestation period. Be ready to take some pictures.
2nd Day
08.00 - Depart for the hike on the forest. The guide will take the guests by canoe to a non flooded area. From there you will walk through the forest for about one and a half hours. The guide will explain the difference between flooded and non flooded forests, how the Amazon basin was formed, why the forest is fragile, why it should be preserved and how be beneficial it is to mankind. He will also give a brief about the type of animals that inhabit the Amazon Rainforest. You will be shown various medicinal plants, trees, vines and lianas and learn about their uses. You will be also shown the Kapok or Silk Cotton Tree, one of the largest trees in the Amazon Rainforest.
12.00 – Lunch.
15.30 - Depart for Piranha Fishing.
19.00 – Dinner time.
03rd Day
05.30 – the guide will take you to an area where you can have an excellent view of the sunrise over the forest and the river.
07.00 - Breakfast.
08.00 - Guests can leave either on the regular boat at 08.00 or on the other regular boat at 14.00. Should guests choose to depart on the boat at 14.00 they will leave at 08.00 to visit a native village called St. Thomas, a community of local fishermen near the hotel.
12.00 – Lunch.
14.00 - Depart for Manaus.
